Using the custom scrollbar in Director's library and some images created in Photoshop or Fireworks we can create a custom made scrollbar. This is an easy way to make your multimedia movie look instantly more professional.
Import the custom scrollbar images into Director.
Copy a lot of 'ipsum lorem' text from subterrane.
Create a text cast member and paste in the copied text. Set the text area to be 3 inches wide and name it loremipsum.
Drag the text member onto the stage. Notice that it overflows the stage.
Open the text property inspector and click on the text tab.
Change framing to 'fixed'.
Click on the sprite tab and change the height to 450.
Now drag the scrollbar icons onto the stage.
Open the Library on Text.
Click on the custom scrollbar behaviour and drag it onto the bar sprite, and change the parameters to 'current sprite acts as bar'. Make sure that the text called 'loremipsum' is the text being scrolled.
Click on the custom scrollbar behaviour and drag it onto the scroller sprite, and change the parameters to 'current sprite acts as dragger'. Make sure that the text called 'loremipsum' is the text being scrolled.
Click on the custom scrollbar behaviour and drag it onto the top sprite, and change the parameters to 'current sprite acts as upArrow. Make sure that the text called 'loremipsum' is the text being scrolled.
Click on the custom scrollbar behaviour and drag it onto the bottom sprite, and change the parameters to 'current sprite acts as downArrow. Make sure that the text called 'loremipsum' is the text being scrolled.
Save the movie. rewind and test it. The four scrollbar images should now behave as the text scrollbar for loremipsum.
